I have permission to use this from another amazing forum, so if you want to see the original thread and permission posts, please use the links below.

I recommend reading this all, as it helps develop in your brain.
At the very top of the page are the "menu" buttons: Home, Help, Search, etc.
One of them is called "Messages". Click on it, and you will get to your PM box.
If you see a bubble with a number in it above the "Message" sign, it means you have so-and-so many PMs. Click on the bubble to get rid of that bubble. If you only click on "Messages", it will continue to be there.
To send a PM (Message) do the following:
Click on the name of the person you want to send a PM (message) to. That will get you to their profile. At the right are 3 tabs in white. One of them says: Send Message.
Click on it, add a subject and your message, and then click on the "Create Message" tab at the bottom.
To look at your inbox and outbox, click on "Messages" at the top of the main page. The "Inbox" will always be the one that is open when you get to your Messages. To see your outbox, click on "Personal Messages" and a sub-tab comes up. One of the tabs is the "Outbox". Click on it to get to your outbox.
--- --- ---
Also among the menu buttons is "Profile". Click on it, and you will get to your profile. Click on "Edit Profile", and you will be taken to the part where you can set things to your liking. Among others, you can change the avatar, hide or show certain things, like your date of birth, and other things.
--- --- ---
What to do if you want to stay logged in:
When you go to "log in", there is a checkbox labelled "Remember me" under the field where you type the username in. Tick that checkbox.
Make sure that the browser isn’t set to delete cookies on exit. Also, after logging in again, make sure to click the “Save my Password” button.
--- --- ---
To change the Default ProBoards Avatar that automatically shows up in your "Edit Profile" section, click below the picture on "Edit Avatar".
Although there are 4 display options for the avatars to choose from, it's best to either tick the first one (Use only your ProBoards Avatar), or the second one (Use only the Uploaded/Linked). It seems that if you click the third option (Combine them), you get a non-picture image behind the one you are using.
If you tick "No Avatar", you get "The Faceless One", the one that looks as incomplete as the one from the "Body Snatchers", before they had time to develop.
If you prefer to use your own image (preferably a non-animated one), click on the "Uplaod/Link" tab you see below the empty space left of your "ProBoards" avatar.
--- --- ---
The message board consists of Categories, like "General" and "Productivity".
Within each category are Boards, each with a different topic, and within each board you can find the threads that go with the topic.
Each board has a heading, and beneath each heading is a description of the board.
Just click on any of the boards, and take a look at the threads. You can either post in the threads, or make a new one yourself.
--- --- ---
When you want to make a new post, you can choose between "Quote", "Quick Reply" and "Reply":
- The "Quote " button is above each post.
- The "Quick Reply" button is at the bottom of the thread, just above the "quick reply box".
- The "Reply" button is at the top and the bottom of the thread.
You will not be able to use smilies or any of the other tabs like bold, italic, etc, when making a quick reply post !!
After you have clicked on "Reply" or "Quote" and added your own comment, click on "Create Post" at the bottom of your reply box. That will add your post to the thread.
--- --- ---
When writing a post, you can do it with the "Preview" tab on top, or the "BBCode" tab on top.
I find that with the "BBCode" the text, when I type, is very small and faint, but with "Preview" you get the larger, easier to read font.
This does not work for "Quick Reply", only for "Reply" and "Quote".
--- --- ---
The icons in the shape of "Circles" at the left of each board will tell you whether a new post has been made in this board or not. If the circle is "dark", there is a new message, if it's "light," there isn't.
You can also see the "Legend" for "New Posts" and "No New Posts" at the bottom of the main page, just above the Info Center. [/quote]
--- --- ---
If you want to add a spoiler that hides the text until clicked on, do this:
you type the word "spoiler" - put them into brackets, then add the text, and then add a forward slash (/) with the word "spoiler" right after - again, in brackets. Don't use the quotes, though. I added them because otherwise all the text in between the 2 spoiler words will be invisible to you.
And this is what it will look like:
Aaand, that's it! Hope this helped!
